
Brittany Schmidt joins the Pirate volleyball coaching staff as
an assistant for the 2009 season.
Schmidt has spent the past four seasons as the assistant coach
at Wittenberg University, where she helped the Tigers to three
straight NCAA Division III Final Four appearances and a cumulative
142-17 record over those four years.
She was also recognized by the American Volleyball
Coaches’ Association (AVCA) as one of the top young
volleyball coaches in America with a Thirty Under 30 Award in
2009.
A former North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Year for
Wittenberg, Schmidt played for the Tigers from 1999-2002 and earned
two-time All-Great Lakes Region honors.
Schmidt earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from
Wittenberg in 2003 and her master’s degree from the
University of Dayton. She and AASU head women’s basketball
coach Matt Schmidt were recently married this summer and the couple
live in Savannah.
