Flagler Defeats AASU, 3-1, In PBC Volleyball Action


ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Flagler College Saints knocked off Armstrong Atlantic State, 3-1, in Peach Belt Conference volleyball action on Wednesday evening in St. Augustine, Fla. The Saints clinch a share of the PBC regular season title with the 25-16, 20-25, 25-19, 25-23 victory.

The Pirates (22-8, 9-3 PBC) saw their nine-match win streak come to an end, while Flagler extended its winning streak to 18 matches.

Junior Brendyce Budd was the only AASU player to reach double figure kills, collecting 11 on the night. Freshman Kristin Standhardinger tallied 25 assists and sophomore casey Howett notched 17 digs. The Pirates hit just .126 for the match.

Flagler placed a quartet of players in double digit kills, led by Katie Beale's 15 kills to go with her match-high 18 digs. Rachel Stacy added 11 kills and five blocks, while Meg Weathersby notched 12 kills and Justine Burkhardt added 10. Olivia Snipes tallied 30 assists as well for the Saints, who hit .194.

The Pirates next host Francis Marion on Friday, November 6, at 6:00 p.m. Flagler would have to drop both matches this weekend against FMU and UNC Pembroke, while the Pirates would need to sweep the Patriots and the Braves to earn a share of the regular season title with Flagler.
