Pirate Volleyball Fourth In NCAA's Second Region Rankings

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Armstrong Atlantic State volleyball squad checks in at No. 4 in the NCAA Southeast Region volleyball rankings, released by the NCAA Championships Committee on Thursday. The second of three rankings precedes the selection of the 2009 NCAA DII Volleyball Championships field on November 15.
The Pirates (20-7) have gone a perfect 6-0 since the last ranking period, but slipped one spot behind USC Aiken (13-13) in the latest poll. Wingate (27-1) continues to sit atop the rankings, followed by PBC leader Flagler (21-8).
Carson-Newman (15-7) is fifth, followed by Lincoln Memorial (19-5), Tusculum (16-12), Lander (16-10), Montevallo (14-12) and Catawba (14-9).

The Pirates are 4-3 against the Southeast Region field and face a pair of those teams this weekend - AASU hosts eighth-ranked Lander on Friday at 7:00 p.m., then takes on third-ranked USC Aiken on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
