Sona Novakova Advances To DII Singles Final

MOBILE, Ala. - Armstrong Atlantic State
sophomore Sona Novakova advanced to the women's
singles championship match of the ITA Small College National
Championships on Friday after a 6-2, 6-1 win over Julia Arguello of
East Central University in Mobile, Ala.
Novakova, the reigning DII singles champion, will face Yuan Jia of
BYU-Hawaii in the singles final at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday morning -
Jia defeated Florida Southern's Senka Softic, 6-3, 6-1. The winner
of that match will immediately go into the "Super Bowl" bracket,
playing a singles match at 2:00 p.m., taking on the winner of the
NAIA Bracket.
On the men's side, junior Rafael Array defeated West Virginia
Wesleyan's Marc Rosner, 7-5, 6-1, in a consolation bracket match on
Friday morning. Array will now face Ryan Ward of Washburn in a
fifth-place match at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
