Pirates Remain Fourth In NCAA Region Rankings

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Armstrong Atlantic State women's soccer squad remained fourth in the NCAA DII Southeast Region rankings, released today by the NCAA. The rankings are the fourth of five sets of rankings leading up to the selection of the NCAA DII Women's Soccer Championship field on November 9.

The Pirates (11-3-3) tied Tusculum and beat UNC Pembroke, a pair of squads that were regionally ranked last week. Carson-Newman moved into the top spot of the region rankings, with Columbus State slipping to No. 2 and Tusculum holding at No. 3.

Behind AASU, Newberry is fifth, followed by Catawba, Lander, North Georgia, Wingate and GCSU.

AASU's schedule remains one of the toughest in the nation as the Pirates have played 10 out of their 17 matches this season against teams that appear in the latest NCAA regional rankings. AASU is 3-2-2 against ranked teams in the Southeast Region and 1-1-1 against other regionally-ranked opponents  - all coming from the South Region.

The Pirates host PBC-foe Flagler on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in a "Kick for the Cure" match to raise awareness for breast cancer at AT&T Field.
