Burton Earns ESPN: The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors


SAVANNAH, Ga. - Senior forward Kristin Burton has been named to the ESPN: The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District III Women's Soccer first team, released today by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America. As a first-team honoree, Burton now advances to the national ballot with the opportunity to earn Academic All-America honors.

A physical therapy major who carries a 3.68 GPA, Burton earned ESPN: The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-America honors as a sophomore and a junior. This is her third time appearing on the Academic All-District III squad and Burton is one of three Peach Belt Conference student-athletes to appear on the first team, joining Sam Dunn of UNC Pembroke and Jessica Binkowski of GCSU.

The Peach Belt Conference's leading goal scorer this season and in her career, Burton has scored 24 goals and recorded 11 assists in 18 matches this season, ranking among the NCAA DII top ten in both points and goals. The Ocala, Fla., native is also a two-time PBC Player of the Year honoree and has the Pirates on track for a third NCAA Championships berth in the last four seasons.

The ESPN: The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-America teams for women's soccer will be released on Tuesday, November 17.
