Kristin Burton Earns Record PBC Player of the Week Honor

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Senior Kristin Burton was named the Peach Belt Conference women's soccer Player of the Week this week by league officials after a record-setting week for the No. 19-ranked Pirates.
Burton delivered a pair of assists in AASU's 2-2 draw at Wingate on Wednesday, breaking a tie with Lyndsi Stricklen and becoming the Pirates' all-time leader in assists. She then scored a school-record and PBC match-tying five goals in AASU's 7-2 win over Clayton State on Saturday, also setting asingle-match record (school- and PBC-match) in points with 11.
She has 12 goals this season, becoming the first AASU player to score double digit goals in four consecutive seasons, and she is hot on the heels of the "trifecta" of PBC career records, trailing Olaitan Yusuf of Clayton State by six points and seven goals, while also trailing Katie Roberts of FMU with eight assists. Burton has 76 career goals, 27 career assists and 179 career points in her four seasons at AASU.
The weekly league honor is the 11th of Burton's career, the most weekly awards that a single student-athlete has received by the Peach Belt Conference in any sport.
Burton and the Pirates return to action on Friday, September 25, with a 5:00 p.m. contest against the University of Tampa at AT&T Field.
