Lady Pirates 10th At LRC/Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate


MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Amidst wet conditions, the Armstrong Atlantic State women's golf team fired a first-round 350 to sit in 10th place after the first round of the 10th LRC/Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate on Monday at the Meadowlands Golf Club.

Newberry College leads the 13-team field after a first-round 312 on Monday, holding a two-stroke lead over Wingate (314). UNC Pembroke (320), Lincoln Memorial (321) and Queens (NC) (326).

Junior Carrie George led the Lady Pirates individually on Monday after a first-round 83, tying for 24th individually. Sophomore Kim Knox carded a first-round 87 and is tied for 38th individually. Freshman Kelly Pearce shot a first-round 90 to tie for 52nd, as did junior Sarah Johns.

Freshman Jessica Tomberlin rounded out the AASU team scoring with a 95, tying for 61st individually. Sophomore Allison Smith, playing as an individual, shot a 97 on Monday and is tied for 65th.

Play concludes with a single round of 18 holes on Tuesday.
