Lady Pirates 9th At Charleston Southern Invitational

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Armstrong Atlantic State women's golf team fired a first-round 323 on Monday to sit in ninth place after the first round of the Charleston Southern Wendy's Invitational at the Coosaw Creek Country Club in North Charleston, S.C.
The College of Charleston leads the 15-team field after a 298 score on Monday, followed by Coastal Carolina (301) and Memphis (309). Winthrop and host Charleston Southern round out the top five as both are tied with 315 scores.
Sophomore Victoria Bennett paced the Pirates in round one with a 78, tying for 18th individually. Freshman Kelly Pearce shot a 79 and is tied for 21st individually, while sophomore Kim Knox is tied for 40th individually after an 82.
Junior Carrie George shot an 84 and is tied for 50th, while freshman Jessica Tomberlin carded a 95 on Monday and is tied for 75th.
Play concludes with a single round of 18 holes on Tuesday.
