Lady Pirates Tied For Second At Dana Rader Intercollegiate


CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Armstrong Atlantic State women's golf team fired a first-round 326 on Monday and is tied for second place at the Dana Rader Intercollegiate, hosted by Pfeiffer University at the Ballantyne Resort in Charlotte, N.C.

The Lady Pirates are 20 strokes behind team leader Pfeiffer (306), tied with Queens (NC). Carson-Newman is in fourth place, two strokes behind at 328, while Newberry is fifth at 334.

Sophomore Sarah Johns leads the Lady Pirates individually after a first-round 78 and is tied for third, six strokes behind individual leader Brittany Beltran (72) of Pfeiffer. Freshman Victoria Bennett is tied for sixth individually after a first-round 79, while freshman Kim Knox is in 14th place after a first-round 82.

Sophomore Kristen Jelinek is in 22nd place after Monday's first round of 87, while sophomore Carrie George rounds out the AASU scoring after a 90, placing 26th.

Play concludes on Tuesday with a single round of 18 holes in the eight-team tournament.
