Lady Pirates Finish Third At West Georgia Invitational

CARROLLTON, Ga. - The Armstrong Atlantic State women's golf team fired a final-round 326 and moved up one spot to finish third in the West Georgia Invitational on Tuesday afternoon in Carrollton.
The Lady Pirates overtook host West Georgia to finish with a two-day 660 total, 13 strokes better than the Wolves (673). Birmingham Southern (624) won the team title, while Flagler (628) finished second. The tournament was competed at the Sunset Hills Country Club on the Par 71-6,044 yard course.
Freshman Victoria Bennett led the Lady Pirates individually with a second-round 80, finishing tied for seventh with a two-day 161 total. Sophomore Sarah Johns carded an 86 and finished in 12th place with a 167 total, while freshman Kim Knox shot an 82 on Tuesday to finish in 13th place with a 168 total. Carrie George shot an 83 and finished with a 169 total, tying for 14th place, with sophomore Kristen Jelinek rounding out the AASU scoring after an 81 on Tuesday to finish tied for 16th with a 171 total.
The tournament concludes the regular season for the Lady Pirates in their third season of competition as a varsity sport at AASU.
