Lady Pirates Fourth At West Georgia Invitational


CARROLLTON, Ga. - The Armstrong Atlantic State women's golf squad shot a first-round 334 at the 2009 West Georgia Invitational, placing fourth after Monday's action.

Birmingham Southern leads the tournament, with Flagler second and West Georgia third. The host Wolves fired a 327 on Monday, seven strokes ahead of the Lady Pirates.

Sophomore Sarah Johns and freshman Victoria Bennett lead the Lady Pirates individually with first-round 81 scores, followed by sophomore Carrie George and freshman Kim Knox, who each shot rounds 86. Sophomore Kristen Jelinek rounded out the AASU scoring with a 90.

Play concludes with a single round of 18 holes on Tuesday.
