Lacey Willis Earns Daktronics/CoSIDA All-Region Honors


SAVANNAH, Ga. - Senior forward Lacey Willis has been named to the Daktronics All-Southeast Region Women’s Basketball second team, announced today by the organization.

Willis is one of four Peach Belt Conference players named to the first and second teams. The Dublin, Ga., native earned a spot on the second team after averaging 17.0 points and 8.3 rebounds per game this season.

A four-time PBC Player of the Week honoree and a 2008-09 All-PBC first teamer, Willis scored in double figures in 25 of 27 games played this season, despite playing most of the spring with a broken right (shooting) hand. She recorded nine double-doubles this season as well and ranked third in the PBC in scoring and sixth in rebounding.

AASU finished the 2008-09 season with a 17-11 overall record and tied for third in the league standings, its highest finish in the PBC since the 2004-05 year.

The Daktronics NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region Teams are voted on by the sports information directors of the Southeast Region. The region is comprised of the Conference Carolinas, the Peach Belt Conference, the South Atlantic Conference, Chowan University and North Greenville University.
