Lady Pirates Rebound With 64-41 Win Over Augusta State

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Armstrong Atlantic State won its third Peach Belt Conference women's basketball contest out of the Lady Pirates' last four with a 64-41 win over visiting Augusta State on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Arena.
The Lady Pirates (14-9, 9-7 PBC) held Augusta State to just two field goals in the first half, building a 32-18 halftime advantage and holding on for the victory. The Lady Jaguars (5-18, 3-13 PBC) dropped their sixth straight game on the season with the loss.
Senior Lacey Willis delivered a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds, hitting 9-of-12 shots from the floor. Ashley Duhart chipped in 12 points, while Dartayvia Thomas notched seven points, 10 rebounds and four assists.
Augusta State did not place a player in double figures on the day. Brittany Jarrard came off the bench to hit 7-of-10 free throws en route to nine points to lead the Lady Jaguars.
Augusta State finished the day just 12-of-43 from the floor (27.9 percent) and hitting just 1-of-9 shots from beyond the arc. AASU suffered through a cold shooting day from long range, hitting just 4-of-26 three-point shots (15.4 percent) but the Lady Pirates hit 20-of-36 from two-point range (55.6 percent).
AASU returns to action on Monday, February 16, with a 5:30 p.m. contest at No. 24-ranked Clayton State in Morrow, Ga.
