Lacey Willis Earns Second PBC Player of the Week Honors

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Senior forward Lacey Willis has been named the Peach Belt Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season, announced today by league officials. She becomes AASU's first back-to-back Player of the Week honoree since Tasha Washington in 2004.
Willis averaged 24.5 points and 13.5 rebounds in two games for AASU (4-1) last week. She began by setting a career-high with 14 rebounds to go with 17 points in a loss to Newberry, then came back with 32 points and 13 rebounds in a win over Limestone, her second career game with 30 or more.
The Dublin, Ga., native shot .657 from the field (23-35) in the two games and she currently ranks second in the PBC in scoring and is also tied for sixth in rebounding and fifth in field-goal percentage.
A preseason All-PBC selection, Willis was the league's first Player of the Week honoree on November 24. She is the first back-to-back women's player of the week since Tasha Washington earned the honor on February 23 and 29, 2004.
Willis and the Lady Pirates open up Peach Belt Conference play on Tuesday with a 5:30 p.m. contest at UNC Pembroke.
