Lacey Willis Named PBC Women's Basketball Player of the Week

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Armstrong Atlantic State senior forward Lacey Willis has been named the first Peach Belt Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the 2008-09 season, announced today by league officials.
The 5-10 forward averaged a team-leading 17.3 points per game in the Lady Pirates' three wins to open the season. She collected 15 points and five rebounds in a 71-53 win over 20-game winner Fairmont State, then followed that up with 18 points and six rebounds in a 78-76 win over Concord.
Willis then added 19 points in Thursday's 70-58 win over Pfeiffer, helping AASU start 3-0 for just the third time in the last 10 seasons. The Dublin, Ga., native ht 53% from the field and 80% from the fre throw line and currently ranks fifth in the PBC in scoring.
Willis and the Lady Pirates open their home season on Tuesday evening with a 6:00 p.m. matchup with South Atlantic Conference foe Newberry at Alumni Arena.
