Pirates 12th At Mizuno Savannah Intercollegiate


POOLER, Ga. - The Armstrong Atlantic State men's golf team shot rounds of 301 and 288 on Monday to sit in 12th place after the first day of the Mizuno Savannah Intercollegiate, hosted by Georgia Southern University, at the Savannah Quarters Country Club in Pooler.

East Carolina leads the 15-team primarily-Division I field with a two-round 564 total, nine shots ahead of Wofford (573). Old Dominion (576), GCSU (582) and host Georgia Southern (584) round out the top five. With a 589 total, AASU is two shots shy of Elon and Troy (587) for 10th place.

Sophomore Matt Motes carded rounds of 72 and 71 to tie for 11th individually with a one-under-par 143 total on Monday. Freshman Justin Wylie shot rounds of 75 and 70 to tie for 21st individually with a one-over-par 145 total. Freshman Jacob Tilton shot consecutive rounds of 75 and is tied for 44th individually with a 150 total.

Freshman Tyler Erickson rebounded from a first-round 81 to shoot a second-round 72 and is tied for 60th individually with a 153 total. Junior Parker Gordon rounds out the AASU scoring after rounds of 79 and 77, tying for 70th with a 156 total.

Playing as individuals, junior David Patterson shot rounds of 73 and 78 to tie for 52nd, while sophomore Dustin Allen shot rounds of 74 and 80 and is tied for 64th individually.

Play concludes on Tuesday with a single round of 18 holes. AASU individuals Dustin Allen and David Patterson will tee off on hole 10 at 8:18 and 8:27 a.m., respectively, with the Pirate team teeing off of hole 10 at 8:36 a.m.
