AASU Finishes Tied For 13th At Queens (NC) Invitational


PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. - The Armstrong Atlantic State men's golf team shot a final-round 303 to finish tied for 13th at the Queens (NC) Invitational on Tuesday at the TPC Valley Course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.

Barton shot a second straight even-par 288 to capture the title with an even-par 576 two-day total. Florida Southern (581) finished second, followed by Flagler (586), Belmont Abbey (587) and Abilene Christian (588) in the 17-team field.

Junior David Patterson paced the Pirates for a second straight day with a two-over-par 74 score, finishing the tournament tied for 28th with a 249 total. Sophomore Matt Motes also carded a 74 on Tuesday to finish tied for 40th with a 152 total.

Freshman Tyler Erickson shot a second-round 78 and finished tied for 55th with a 155 total. Freshman Jacob Tilton also finished tied for 55th after a second-round 78, while junior Aaron Elrod rounded out the AASU scoring with a second-day 77, finishing tied for 79th with a 161 total.

The Pirates return to action for the final time this fall on Monday and Tuesday, October 19-20, at the Mizuno Intercollegiate, hosted by AASU and Georgia Southern University at Savannah Quarters Golf & Country Club.
