Pirates Tied For 11th At Queens (NC) Invitational


PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. - The Armstrong Atlantic State men's golf team shot a first-round 306 and is tied for 11th after Monday's action in the Queens (NC) Invitational at the TPC Valley Course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.

Barton College leads the 17-team field after an even-par 288 on Monday. Abilene Christian and Belmonty Abbey are each four strokes off the pace after 292 scores, while Flagler is at 293 and Lander rounds out the top 5 with a 295 score.

Junior David Patterson carded a first-round 75, three-over-par, to pace the Pirates on day one, tying for 31st individually. Freshman Jacob Tilton fired a four-over-par 76 and is tied for 39th, while freshman Tyler Erickson shot a five-over-par 77 and is tied for 49th individually.

Sophomore Matt Motes shot a 78 on Monday and is tied for 57th individually. Junior Aaron Elrod rounded out the AASU scoring after shooting an 84, tying for 84th individually.

Play concludes on Tuesday with a single round of 18 holes on the par-72, 6848-yard TPC Valley Course.
