Pirates Blister UNC Pembroke With 95-63 PBC Victory

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Armstrong Atlantic State placed five players in double figures and hit 60 percent from the floor in picking up a 95-63 Peach Belt Conference men's basketball victory over visiting UNC Pembroke on Saturday evening at Alumni Arena.
The Pirates (17-4, 10-4 PBC) hit 60 percent from the floor, making 33-of-55 shots, while also hitting 10-of-18 three-pointers. UNC Pembroke (5-16, 2-12 PBC) committed 25 turnovers on the night.
Junior Dwight Tolbert set the tone in the first half for AASU, hitting 6-of-8 shots from the floor, including 4-of-6 three-pointers, en route to 17 first-half points in helping the Pirates lead 42-28 at halftime. The rest of the Pirates got into the act after intermission as AASU hit 5-of-7 threes after halftime to win going away.
Tolbert led the Pirates with 21 points on the ngiht, while T.T. Hall chipped in 13 points and Uriah Hethington and Calvin Wilson each collected 12 points. Brian Moultrie added 10 points as all 13 players who got into the game for AASU scored at least one point on the night.
UNC Pembroke was led by Marcus Heath's 21 points. The Braves shot well from the free throw line, hitting 22-of-26 shots from the charity stripe (84.6 percent), while free throws were the only subpar part of AASU's game tonight, with the Pirates hitting just 19-of-35 (54.3 percent).
AASU returns to action on Wednesday, February 11, with a big Top 25 showdown at No. 17 GCSU at 7:30 p.m.
