Men's Basketball Enters NABC DII Top 25 Coaches' Poll

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Armstrong Atlantic State men's basketball team has returned to the NABC/Division II Men's Basketball rankings, released today by the organization. The Pirates check in at No. 25 and are one of three teams in the Peach Belt Conference that appear in the rankings.

The Pirates (10-2, 3-2 PBC) went 2-1 last week, defeating North Georgia and Georgia Southwestern, while falling on a last-second shot at then-No. 10 Augusta State on Saturday. This is the third season out of the last four in which AASU has appeared in the Top 25 poll, and the ranking is the first since AASU was also No. 25 on January 23, 2007.

Augusta State moved up three spaces to No. 7, while USC Aiken is at No. 10, giving the PBC two teams in the top 10. Those two teams are also the only two schools that have knocked off the Pirates this season. Clayton State, ranked No. 16 last week, fell out of the Top 25 poll.

Armstrong Atlantic State is one of seven schools to move into the poll this week. Findlay remains the No. 1 team in the nation, followed by Bellarmine, LIU-C.W. Post, Central Oklahoma and Southwest Baptist.

The Pirates return to action on Wednesday, January 14, with a 7:30 p.m. Peach Belt Conference contest against GCSU at Alumni Arena. The Bobcats are 9-1, 3-1 in the PBC and are among teams receiving votes in the latest poll.
