Pirates Hit The Boards In 74-67 Win At North Georgia

DAHLONEGA, Ga. - The Armstrong Atlantic State men's basketball team hit the glass for a 74-67 Peach Belt Conference victory over host North Georgia on Monday evening in Dahlonega.

The Pirates (9-1, 2-1 PBC) grabbed 50 rebounds and outrebounded the Saints (6-3, 0-3 PBC) by 20 in winning their fifth straight.

Junior Keron McKenzie came off the bench to lead the Pirates offensively with 15 points, including three three-pointers. Dwight Tolbert added 13 points and nine rebounds, while Gabriel Robinson chipped in 11 points.

North Georgia was led by Andre Morgan's 20 points and LaBrian Lyons' 14 points.

AASU recorded a stout 20-7 edge in offensive rebounds and forced 22 turnovers by the Saints. The win also exacted a little revenge as North Georgia was the team that knocked the Pirates out of the PBC Tournament last season, 88-86, handing AASU its first opening loss in the league tournament since 1993.

The Pirates return to action on Wednesday, January 7, with a 7:30 p.m. contest against Georgia Southwestern State at Alumni Arena.
