Brittany Schmidt Named Senior Women's Administrator

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The Armstrong Atlantic State athletic department today named Brittany Schmidt as Senior Women's Administrator, succeeding Lynn Roberts, who resigned as the Pirates' SWA in May after 10 years in the position.

Currently serving as an assistant to the Athletic Director for Marketing and Promotions, Schmidt joined the AASU family this year from Wittenberg University, where she served as an assistant volleyball and women's basketball coach for the last four seasons. A former volleyball student-athlete at Wittenberg University, she was recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches’ Association (AVCA) as one of the top young volleyball coaches in America with a Thirty Under 30 Award in 2009.

The spouse of current AASU women's basketball coach Matt Schmidt, Brittany Schmidt will provide academic support to all women student-athletes at AASU; coordinate and/or provide administrative support for coaches of all women's sports as well as represent AASU at Senior Women's Administrator (SWA) meetings of the Peach Belt Conference and the NCAA.

"Brittany has had to hit the ground running for our department with Marketing and Promotions, but I feel confident in her abilities to add the duties of Senior Women's Administrator," Athletic Director Andy Carter said. "She is a bright young woman with a great future in collegiate athletics and I believe she will be very successful for us in these roles."
